A new scenic oil painting on linen canvas. I got this image from my new apartment complex, Villas at Huffmeister. It is the little gardens by the unit doors. I thought it would make a beautiful scenic painting.
Painted in Corel Painter using Den's Funky Chunky and Oil Luscious, and blended with the oily blender.
I also added a touch of Lucis Art sculpture to make the brushwork pop, then added an irish linen texture to it.

It was first painted in Corel Painter, then finished off in Photoshop tweaking colors and blending with textures found on the web.
This first version had a vignette around it, and I was really up in the air about that. I got some great feedback from friends on Paint Outside the Frame about that.....it distracted more than drew the eye due to certain elements of the portrait, like the plain wall at top with little detail to bring the vignette out to the bottom of the image being more detailed which made the painting look "unfinished". So, I nixed the vignette. Although a friend on Pro4um liked it.
The updated version is without the vignette, more visually appealing now.

]]>I'm toying with the idea of restaining the cabinets and floor (floor is same color wood as cabinets) a darker color. I'll update here when painting is complete and have a vote on stain color for cabinets and floor. :)

Recent painting commission of two beautiful children on the beach.
The sky lacked any detail, so I added an image of clouds that I had and proceeded from there.
This image is oil, but I let the client know that it would print beautifully on either canvas or fine art watercolor due to the key. My opinion is it would be a gorgeous gallery wrap! :)
Teri Mason of Teri Mason Photography commissioned me last week to paint this gorgeous image of two children on an old country porch.
Teri's work is very refreshing and beautiful. I highly recommend visiting her site to see more of her work. She is a true inspiration to many, including myself! I cannot wait to be able to paint more for her.
Kicking off the new blog with one of my own personal paintings.
This is a painting of my sister's cows that I captured while visiting her in Spring Branch, Texas. I liked the way they kept looking at me out of curiosity while grazing, and the background was perfect where they were standing.
I used all Artists' Oils on this image and loved the way it turned out. I finished it off with a sandstone texture overlay.
So, now I finally have a new one that I'm happy with!
I'm really excited to start blogging with Paintings by Stacey. I always have so much on my mind, new paintings to share, etc. that I can't wait to just dive in!
